Upcoming Film: Light Falling Down
Light Falling Down, adapted from Aimee Greenberg’s theatrical production, was filmed and is currently in post-production, with editing led by Richard Levien. Set in Poland in 1942, the film follows Ruth, a 16-year-old Jewish girl who finds refuge on a farm owned by Alice, a young Polish woman. Their initially tense encounter evolves into a complex bond amid crisis, exploring themes of remembrance, sacrifice, and rebirth. Symbols like dirt, sunflowers, and Zmierzch (Polish for twilight) enrich the narrative.
The film’s tone resonates with the rhythms of nature, where light acts as a silent narrator, transitioning from the promise of dawn to the oppressive weight of noon, culminating in the fear that accompanies night. Light Falling Down aims to illuminate the stories of those who have endured, survived, and thrived against all odds, celebrating the resilience and universal strength of women throughout history.
Richard Levien, editor, has over 15 years of experience in writing, directing, and editing award-winning films. His debut feature, Collisions, won multiple grants and accolades, including the Indie Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival. Levien's work includes acclaimed shorts like Immersion, utilized by over 50 educational institutions, as well as editing credits for notable projects, including Barry Jenkins' Remigration and feature documentaries aired on Independent Lens.
We are striving to meet our post-production goals, and tax-exempt donations can be sent through From the Heart Productions, a 501(c)(3) non-profit fiscal sponsor. If you would like to contribute, please click the donate button.
